 What Your Dollar Can Do

Our 2009 Campaign concluded on March 31.  We are grateful to you, our donors, for your contribution toward helping us raise $13,263,857 in this year’s effort.  I would like to extend a special note of thanks to Tim Doolittle, Director of Administration for the Buffalo and Erie County Workforce Development Consortium, for serving as Chair of our 2009 Campaign.  Tim’s tireless advocacy on our behalf is nothing short of inspirational.

I would also like to welcome and thank Dennis Elsenbeck, Regional Executive for National Grid, as he assumes the role of Chair for the 2010 Campaign.  Dennis brings an “electricity” and commitment to our work that makes him a worthy successor to Tim, whom I am glad to report will serve as Campaign Vice Chair this year.

The past year has been eventful for the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County. Michael Weiner took over as president, I became Board Chair, and the dedicated staff adopted a new structure and new ways of doing business. All of our staff and volunteers did a tremendous job of staying focused on the important work we do in the community, and I am grateful for their hard work and passionate commitment to improving quality of life for every resident of Erie County.  I look forward to reporting on our progress in the coming year.
