The American Apprenticeship Initiative (AAI) of WNY is an employer-driven United States Department of Labor (USDOL) workforce development grant for Advanced Manufacturers in WNY.

The American Apprenticeship Initiative offers companies:

  • Tuition reimbursement for apprentices' classroom training

  • Additional leveraged funds for tools and materials for apprentices

  • Technical support to assist employers in achieving their workforce development goals


The American Apprenticeship Initiative offers employees:

  • Career advancement opportunities paired with wage increases

  • Nationally recognized credentials

  • Personalized access to support services for apprentices



Occupations are determined by employer need. They include, but are not limited to:

  • Electrician

  • Welder

  • CNC Machinist

  • Millwright

  • Machine Repair

  • Tool Maker

  • Drafter
